CICCIO Ristorante Bar Pizzeria FOOD REVIEW!

unexpectedly matching outfit, LOL.
top: borrowed from bff, skirt: Zara, shoes: Aldo

So almost last 2 weeks ago I was invited to visit this cozy place called Ciccio at Changkat,
do you know which one I'm talking about? It's a pretty hot topic for those of you who often go to Changkat.
It's located just rightt beside the car park area which is so convenient! (you know the one you have to pay rm15 for)
I know Changkat is a place mostly to get drinks, but hey why not have some good food there first and then make your way to drinks;)
which is literally what I did that night and went back at 5am... LOL
so here's how the exterior looks like!

it may look small from the outside but it's actually quite a deep way in,
here's the interior!

me and the boss of Ciccio
thank you boss for the invitation and the warm hospitality! you're awesome!

p/s I want this 2 lion head small fountain thingy as my christmas present! LOL.
The mood and atmosphere of the restaurant is enchanting, I'm telling you this kindda lightings are good for dates!
It makes YOU and your partner look so enticing because of the yellow-orangy lights...

Got a pimple? No problem. Just head on to Ciccio ! The lightings are like real-life photoshop,
The place is quite private, and they're actually one of the oldest Italian restaurants in KL.
With ribbles of water splashing from the lion's mouth, the orange lightings, friendly chefs and amazing food,
I'm definitely drawn by it's warm and welcoming ambience.

the boss making sure every dish is served right,
seriously he is meticulous and he hands us almost all the dish himself.

appetizers are here people! I think I have this soft spot for comfort foods you know anything to do with carbs.
It's crazy cause it makes you fat and lazy, and that how I wanna be in another life, Fat and Lazy like a cat.
By the way don't be fooled by looking at how ordinary this bread looks like it's actually soo good.
Italians have a thing for making awesome bread. Crispy on the crust, soft on the white, and it goes so good with the olive oil.
I helped myself with quite a lot of servings cause I was so hungry and I also had some fun with it, haha:

okay moving on!

"Affettato di porchetta"
Slice of roasted rolled pork with rocket salad

This was one of the starters. OM NOM NONM NOM I'M A GOAT. okay ignore me...
The nutty-ness of the rocket salad really compliments the pork. just imagine salad with bacon, perfection.
Talk about a diet plan LOL.

One thing famous about Italians are THEIR PIZZAS!! I've eatten so many kinds of pizzas I should be the pizza master.
and one thing FAMOUS about Ciccio is their HANDMADE WOOD-FIRED pizzas.
I'm a sucker for pizzas but I never knew what was wood-fired pizzas until I did some research,
for you bimbos smart-people-who-never-noticed-these-things out there like me,

wood-fired pizzas are baked at 800-900 degrees next to a hardwood fire in an italian brick oven.
The dough is specially made for the oven and results in a crispy outside and a soft "fresh bread" inside texture.
This is Neapolitan style pizza made in the centuries old traditional way. There, don't you feel smarter now:)lol

They're famous for their pizza Diavola, which everybody knows made out of
tomato, mozzarella, spicy Napoli salami and chili,

and their Pizza Prosciutto e funghi, which is made out of
tomato, mozzarella, cotto ham, and mushrooms!
I personally liked this one more because it's kindda salty, and I like salty stuff, HAHAH.
mmmmmm salty pizzas.....

Although I may be a fan of carbs but I seriously don't know my "mees"
I don't know my fettuccine and pastas, and I'm sure there's lots more terms when it comes to noodles.
For me, anything long, and is made of of carbs in a thin way is called mee, (so asian!) and here I'm calling myself a food blogger.
Oh well, i'll brush up on this issue another day, but I'm totally digging the linguine al branzino
it's seabass, red chicory, garlic, and a touch of chili and white wine sauce.
the Feattuccine al ragu' di chinghiale which is wild boar ragout with home-made fettuccine
was okay for me cause I personally don't fancy thick flat "mees"
Here I go again with my "meeeeeesss"...

so much food! look at that last main course which was Filetto di maiale
which is pan-fried pork loin wrapped with panceta, with pumpkin mesh and cherry sauce.
That was sooo good. the pork was tender and the sauce was great! its' my second fav dish next to my ham pizza:)
You know you can't go wrong with mash pumpkin/ potatoes and meat with a great sauce.
So I recommend to you guys if you're not a fan of pasta / italian mee go for this dish instead! :)

You know what, I've never tried an ice-cream cake till that day...
I'm such a picky eater, I cannot accept the fact that they can mix a cake and ice-cream together,
that's why I've never tried or been able to try one before.
But I guess the up side of being a food blogger now is that you get to try out new things.
ICE CREAM CAKE included!
well I must that it's notttt bad, but I defo won't order this because I still can't accept eating ice cream mixed with cake together. haha!
this sicillian style ice cream cake had candied fruits, sponge cake, almonds and Galliano liquer in it!
man, thanks so much CICCIO and VIBEHERO for letting me experience this,
be it snails (ONE DAY!) or ice cream cake, even if it's a small thing but it's still a big experience for me!
lol

Finally a group shot with the awesome team and the lovely chefs and boss of CICCIO.

check out here for other reviews on CICCIO

psss psss.. did you know that "Ciccio" means "good friends" in Italian?
see, another useful thing you learn in my blog, ahahaha ;)
toodles peeps! thanks for the invitation boss!

Trishna Food Review!

the marvelously funny boss and I

I was invited recently with the VibeHero team for a Food Review at the famous restaurant Trishna in Hotel Istana!
Never in my life have I tried Northern Indian cuisine till that day and it absolutely blew my mind off,
I really can't wait to take my mom here because she loves spices and indian food just as much as I do.
But first, do take a look at the enchanting place!

"  S t e p  i n t o  a  w o r l d  o f  M a g i c  "
that was my first thoughts when I first entered the restaurant which is located at Hotel Istana. (B1)
I parked my car at the Istana (sounds more atas), haha and made my way to this really cool place.
With the lightings, furniture and set up, I felt like I was in an arabian world
(altho I know we're talking about Northen India cuisine here)

Next! Let me introduce to you some serious Northern Indian food.
People People, I must clarify the only REAL indian food I've eaten was from my Indian neighbor when I was six.
And also the ones from Indian mamak stalls.

Paneer Tikka = (milk curd cheese) (food)
This appetizer was MINDBLOWING!! I kid you not.
I couldn't decide if it was chicken...or.... something else that tasted like chicken.
It felt very compacted and thick I really enjoyed the texture, it felt like smashed tight meat balls btw.
Paneer Tikka is an Indian vegetarian dish made from chunks of paneer marinated in spices and grilled in a tandoor.
This appetizer was definitely a taste-bud opener because of it's aromatic smell and yummy flavors.

***
I'll be teaching you guys some Indian terms, so BARE IN MIND:

"Tikka" = (food) a type of South Asian food
"Paneer" = a type of milk curd cheese used in Indian, Iranian, and Afghan cooking.
"Chutney" = a wet / dry sauce from indian cuisine that has a mixture of spice, vegetable or fruits.

***
I couldn't believe myself when I acknowledge what I have eaten was some kind of "TAUFU",
well it's not actually beancurd. They're actually chunks of milk curd cheese marinated in spices and then arranged on a stick
with capsicums, onions, and tomatoes. These sticks are grilled in a tanoor and the dish is served hot,
seasoned with lemon juice and chaat masala. It's sometimes accompanied by salad or mint chutney

See. I absolutely love this Paneer dish I did research on it.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH OMGGGG... did you know...
lots of fast food chain restaurants in some countries have McDonald Paneer, Subway Paneer and lots more ?!

Ajwain Fish

***
"Ajwain" = also known as "Trachyspermum ammi" a plant of India whose seeds are used as a spice.

***
Another dish that I thought was chicken LOL. this Fish was tender and it smelled great.
definitely way better than those frozen fillets that I usually have from the supermarket T__T

Salad

when you talk about salad you think of cherry tomatoes, lettuce, rocket leaves and maybe a dash of dressing.
but WOW, Northen indian salad goes another level, it's so simple unlike the complicated western salad that we're used to
and more of the time wondering what dressing to put with.

Dal Makhani

unlike any other Dal you can find in the typical mamak stores.
I just wanna grab this whole pot back and dip it with my Roti Canai...

Saag Paneer = (spinach)(milk curd cheese)

***
"Saag" = made from spinach, mustard leaf, finely chopped broccoli alond with spices
***
Remember the awesome milk curd cheese I was talking about?
Now here in another awesome level (dipped and cooked with what seems to be green curry but not!)
At first we all thought that, "ahhh, that should be green curry.." but no! it's Saag...
It tasted really great tho, I would order this again.

Naan

But nothing beats the naan they have. I never tasted any naan this chewy and fine in texture before.
The normal naan from the mamak that I would normally have was either too thick or too thin.
This one has that airy feel that I think every naan should have,
I can't stop myself from taking one after another for this,
dipped with their mutton sauce or their saag and dal and it would taste heaven!
I ate about 4 to 5 pieces.. I know it's insane... but that's the level of insane yumminess this naan packed.

and here's the
Bagan Aloo and the Mutton Rogan Josh

***
"Bagan Aloo" = potato eggplant
***
this was the only dish that we guessed correct.
Altho we did had some doubts whether or not was it chicken, haha.
I love how the way they cooked the potatoes I'm thinking it's curry that they put inside.
It's like our typical curry chicken just that this one's with potatoes.

As for the Mutton Rogan Josh,
I'm wondering why this mutton is called Rogan Josh,
Maybe Rogan Josh was some famous king or something who discovered that mutton can be cooked this way.
Haha, if anyone knows the reason why please enlighten me :P
The sauce was lovely, and as the boss said, Indian cuisine should be eaten when it's hot.

BTW.
if some of you guys are not accustomed to spicy food, Trishna's a good place for you,
because according to the boss, you can request for more spicy "BOOM" up to your preference.
I love and grew up with ultra-spicy food so my tastebuds are trained and sore-d till they're numb,
Trishna's food personally wasn't spicy at all for me, it was just nice and it reminds me of the Garlic flavor from Nandos.
Mild and appetizingly yummy.
When I get my ass back here I'm definitely request the boos to add in more "BOOM KICK OF SPICE".

On my plate. (ROUND ONE) trust me there's so many other rounds I took after this.

Gulab Jamun
also known as the Lal-Mohan.
Try out some really cool and sweet Indian cuisine dessert!
hehehehhehehehehehheeeheehehe. we were giggling at the sight of this.
Gulab Jamun is a cheese-based dessert, similar to a dumpling, they're kneaded into a dough,
sometimes with a pinch of flour, and then shaped into small balls and deep fried at a low temperate,
sometimes served with yogurt, but for Trishna's it's served in a light sugar syrup.
It's often served at Indian weddings and birthday parties.
Two pieces were a just nice portion for me, cause I was already stuffed from all the food from main course.
Not to mention I've already had 4-5 pieces of naan in my tummy.

Ending the post with some of the beautiful people I met from the event.
There were guys too of course but this was suppose to be an "all ladies" photo :P HEHHEHE.
hope to see you guys real soon!

Check out some of the other reviews for Trishna's restaurant HERE !

Thanks again VibeHero and Trishna
my tummy is satisfied now and I dream about the Paneer when I'm asleep at night and smile. hehe.

Fahrenheit 600 cafe and restaurant Food Review!

me and the 2 lovely founders, Maryam & Hamid

I'm bringing you good news because I've found the healthiest chilling place with the most warmest people in Publika.
I guarantee you, no more pizza hut, dominos pizza, etc. This place has the most awesome and not to forget HEALTHY pizza.
because you know why? Not only the pizza, literally EVERYTHING on the menu is NOT FRIED.
HOLY F*CKING SHIT?! (excuse my vulgarity, but even if it's not fried, it taste insanely fresh and YUMMY!)
and it just leaves me craving for more....
GOD DAMMIT. blogging about this at night is not a good idea!
Oh, btw this awesome place I'm talking about is Fahrenheit 600 in Publika!

ootd:

top & bag : topshop / chiffon outterwear : (can't remember) / bottoms : pull and bear

I recently got this top from Topshop because of the sales! I've been eyeing on this for ages but the original price was over-budget for me:(
I love embellishments on clothings, especiallly ones that have patterns like these because I think it's soo cute!
I matched it up with some gold accessories, and my bindi (that I've been wearing to almost everywhere except for work),
and my chiffon outterwear that flows with the wind like a field of flowers during summertime on a windy day. lol
I should go India, this outfit has India written all over it. At least that's what I interpret it to be, haha!

okay back to this awesome place! Here's some few shoots of how it looks like!

warm and cozy.. OH LOOK BRICK WALLS! i just wanna lay on it roll my body all over it. lol
I am oneee with nature....

these antiques actually works! I'm so surprise with the founders' collections and unique sense in style.

There's so many cozy places to chill at in Publika, one of my favorite is definitely Fahrenheit 600!
just take a look at the photos and you'll definitely be charmed by the lighting... the color tone.. the mood... the texture....
it's all filled to perfection for a hangout place, and a spot to chillax and meet new people.
One of the founder Maryam (who I found out after talking to her) majored in Interior design,
and it's no wonder every corner of the shop is perfect, even the furnitures used are perfect.

I'm actually quite a picky person when it comes to my furnitures, as a designer,
even for my study desk has to be a certain shade of brown, and it has to be real wood for me
so that my "creative sense" can "flow through". I think I blogged about this issue before,
however moving on! we're not here to blog about furnitures today... lol
I just wanna say that even the furnitures they use here in Fahrenheit 600 is perfect, because I LIKE IT. haha.

So what to munch / drink there?
First I wanna talk about the pizzas, because.... they're freaking healthy and awesome here!

damnn... my greedy face.... lol, OH OH , did you notice my Fork and Spoon earrings? lol

fanning because it's still so hot from the oven! :)

check out what we're having...

OHHHH JUST LOOK AT THAT.....
AND ORANGE ON A PIZZA???!!
when you think about it it would be pretty weird, to think that a fruit as a topping for pizzas,
but I dare you guys to try it, because, it's extremely refreshing to the mind that this combo actually works!!

the pizzas can be picked in 2 different choice on one as long as it has the same sauce (tomato / cream)
Both of them were soo good, especially the crust, and I felt instantly healthy because honestly,
I've never tasted such fresh ingredients on a pizza, except if you home cook it yourself.
Normally the pizzas sold in fast food chain / outside are all frozen and microwaved later.
But for Fahrenheit 600, it's all made from scratch on the spot!!! *mindblowing*
And to think that they make pizzas from the scratch would probably be served really slow right? but NO!
You see, because Fahrenheit 600, has this special oven which is up to fahrenheit 600, HENCE the name of the place!
it heats up the made-on-spot pizza so that it's baked to perfection and you don't need to wait too long for it :)
And it's also a one and only oven in KL because the founders brought it back from the US.

GENIUS.
I feel like Einstein now

a pizza filled with great colors.. textures.. juicy richness that bursts in your mouth is MY TYPE of PIZZA.
I love how they play with the names of the food on their menu, like Henry the duck or Popeye the sailor.
I asked her, "why Henry?", and she replied me it was just from a childhood story of hers. :)
I love coffee houses like these where they pile up meaningful childhood pieces and bring the whole shop into life.
It's just magic, and I really hope more shops are more soulful like this :)
OKAY well Henry the Duck got me, I like it the most out of these four types of pizzas also because of it's little yet heart-warming story behind it.
Fahrenheit 600 Pizza is not bad too considering the fact that I NEVER liked eggplant, until that day when I tried this slice,
and I was like "WOW. who knew eggplant could be made this yummy!"
But if you prefer pizzas with cream sauce, go for Mushroomland and popeye the sailor!

Have you ever tried HAVE YOU EVER? hahahhha
I always had that quote in my head ever since I tried this mushroom goodness as an appetizer there.
I love how the egg yolk flows out in a pop and I'm telling you the portion is so big it can go as a main corse for me, haha

Next and lastly is my fav, THEIR COFFEE...

Every Wednesday 3-9pm you can have another bottomless cup of coffee for just rm10.90!
Such reasonable price, I love it, and I love how people are crazy over the trend of drinking coffee!
I'm really awestruck by their lovely coffee art, so fine, and it brings delight in a cup.
I try not to ruin it whenever I take a sip of coffee.. hhehe. I'll start with what me and my friends liked most! :D

salted caramel.... I had the privilege of trying it first!! *CRYING TEARS OF JOY AND HONOR*
it's on the menu now, so everyone please go try it!
this is my FAVVVV because i've NEVER tried salted caramel coffee before,
well I know they have salted caramel flavor on macarons but this was my first take of it on coffees and I'm totally hooked!
It's creamy, yet salty, yet caffeine-y, YIKES! *mindblowing* such...mixed... emotions... lol.....
my friends are teasing me that the barista drew my face on the coffee art, haha! I wished!

EEEKKK! so cute.. you mix and mix and stir! it feels like playing masak masak ! omg so fun!!!!lol
I love how it tastes too, it's not like those cheap chocolate-y taste that sadly you get from most of the shops,
this one has that rich creamy milky sensation that make me wanna curl up in bed and read on a rainy day.
I absolutely love how fun this is and even the name, Zebra!

the Latte is light as it should be, and I recommend to drink it during days where you feel like having coffee but not too much coffee,
haha, does that make sense?

the cafe mocha has a strong taste to it, I can't really comment much on mochas because I'm not an expert on it,
but this one was not bad at all! with such reasonable and affordable price,
it's not wonder people are opting for choices like these instead of the regular starbucks to hangout.

thumbs up to my team photographer - jimmy + videographer - john for helping to take some pictures that day :)
photo credit : RIGHT CLICK PRODUCTION , edited by me.

Finally thank you to the 2 lovely people who opened up this cafe + restaurant.
They travel around the world from US, california, north south east west to bring you the best and latest recipes.
All the coffee beans for every single cup of coffee is homegrown, and freshly roasted.
Even I have to mention this again, all the food that you order are made freshly from scratch upon your order.
There's NO microwave, and they don't FRY anything and they only use the finest olive oil,
which explains a lot why they're food is so fresh. Everything is so healthy there it makes me happy!lol

I see a really really bright future for Fahrenheit 600 because honestly, what's not to love about this place?!
(talking like a fortune teller)
I'm looking forward to go there again.
The next time I'll be trying their home-made pastry and cakes which are baked daily, and also their organis teas. :)

WOOT WOOT!
I'm loving this post hell lots,
I hope you guys give them a visit and give them a like on their facebook page here!
They're only 6 months old so lets show them all the local support we can get shall we? ;D
